Halloween is coming up and what better thing to watch than something queer and spooky? From trans vampires to demon assassins and bloodthirsty queer horror - here are 10 queer films and TV shows to watch this spooky season.

1. HELLUVA BOSS (2019-present)

If you like dark comedy, adult animation and musicals, you're probably already aware of HELLUVA BOSS. If not, then you're in for one hell of a ride. The show revolves around a group of imps working as hitmen for an assassination company in Hell known as I.M.P. There's violence, murder, comedy, hellhounds, musical numbers and a little bit of horny romance (so something for everyone), and if you haven't given it a watch yet, it's well worth a view this spooky season. It's also very gay.

2: IN THE FLESH (2013-2014)

An oldie, but a goodie: IN THE FLESH follows Kieren - a formerly rabid zombie - as he slowly re-enters society several years after a zombie outbreak. It's science fiction meets horror, it's deeply emotional, genuinely scary in places and a fantastic depiction of societal expectation, belonging, and queer identity. This one's going to be a hit with anyone who loves stuff like BEING HUMAN and supernatural horror based in reality.

3. DEAD END PARANORMAL PARK (2022)

DEAD END: PARANORMAL PARK is an animated fantasy horror comedy series created by Hamish Steele for Netflix - based on the graphic novel series, DEADENDIA. The show follows Barney and Norma, the newest employees at their local theme park, along with Pugsley, Barney's childhood dog, and Courtney, a thousand-year-old demon as they discover the secrets of the theme park they work in. Super fun, super spooky and super queer with some great musical numbers.

4. WRECK (2022-2024)

Queers, cruiseships and campy horror. If you like your horror very queer and a little silly you're bound to love WRECK. It's a horror-comedy-drama following Jamie, who starts working on the cruise ship where his sister, Pippa, disappeared after being chased by a knife-wielding psycho in a duck costume. He’s investigating what happened to her, but the more questions he asks, the more horrifying the answers. It's silly and camp and a little bit very bloody.

5. AGATHA ALL ALONG (2024)

Everyone's been talking about AGATHA ALL ALONG, and for good reason! It's a fun and campy supernatural fantasy adventure following the events of WANDAVISION (though if you haven't seen it, there's not much you won't get). After breaking the spell she was under (thanks to a helpful teen), a once-powerful witch regains her freedom and embarks on a journey down the Witches' Road with a hastily-formed coven. It's camp and fun and spooky and surprisingly gay.

6. BIT (2019)

BIT is a smart and witty, modern take on the vampire film genre. The film follows Laurel, a trans teenage girl who meets four queer feminist vampires while on vacation in Los Angeles. Their goal - to rid the city's streets of predatory men. It a fun film with a trans actress as its lead and a great soundtrack - perfect for fans of THE LOST BOYS.

7. DEAD BOY DETECTIVES (2024)

Based on the comics by Neil Gaiman, DEAD BOY DETECTIVES follows a group of mystery-solving teens - two of whom are dead - as they help their ghostly clients find closure and move on to the afterlife... all while trying to escape death, witches and demons. It's queer and funny, spooky and dark, and everything you want from a supernatural mystery. Perfect for fans of Buffy and Scooby-Doo (just with a few more violent deaths).

8. DEAD HOT (2024)

DEAD HOT is wild. It's a short and sweet six-part comedy thriller mini-series about love, loss, sexuality, identity, and class. It follows two friends (Elliot and Jess), brought together by the loss of Peter - Jess's Brother and Elliot's first love. It's dark and funny and creepy and very very gay.

9. FEAR STREET: PARTS 1-3 (2021)

FEAR STREET is a trilogy of supernatural horror films - the first film set in 1994, the second in 1978, and the third in 1666. Based on the RL Stein books of the same name, each film revolves around a group of teenagers trying to break the curse that has been over their town for hundreds of years. Expect lots of blood, gore, suspense, and supernatural horror running throughout all three films.

10. THE OWL HOUSE (2020-2023)

After accidentally going through a door to the world of the Boiling Isles, a teenage human named Luz discovers magic is real and longs to become a witch. With the rebellious witch Eda to guide her and pint-sized demon King at her aid, Luz starts to learn magic, make some friends, and mayybeee gets a girlfriend?!?!? Expect magic, mayhem, and queer characters a-plenty in THE OWL HOUSE - a perfect treat for fans of Gravity Falls, Amphibia and films about magical academies.

BONUS: JENNIFER'S BODY (2009)

JENNIFER'S BODY has become a bit of a cult classic. The original marketing of this film didn't do it justice - it's a feminist revenge horror/comedy with themes of toxic friendship, grief, and sexuality at its core. Jennifer is different after a traumatic evening at a local bar, her male classmates are steadily being killed off and it's up to her best friend Needy to uncover the truth. Is Jennifer evil now? Yes, and she wants to eat your boyfriend.
