10 Queer Spooky Films and TV Shows To Watch This Halloween

Halloween is coming up and what better thing to watch than something queer and spooky? From gay ghosts to sapphic vampires and bloodthirsty queer horror - here are 10 queer films and TV shows perfect for spooky season.

(All shows available in the UK at time of publishing.)

1. AGATHA ALL ALONG (2024 - present)

Everyone's been talking about AGATHA ALL ALONG, and for good reason! It's a fun and campy supernatural fantasy adventure following the events of WANDAVISION (though if you haven't seen it, there's not much you won't get). After breaking the spell she was under (thanks to a helpful teen), a once-powerful witch regains her freedom and embarks on a journey down the Witches' Road with a hastily-formed coven. It's camp and fun and spooky and surprisingly gay.

2. BIT (2019)

BIT is a smart and witty, modern take on the vampire film genre. The film follows Laurel, a trans teenage girl who meets four queer feminist vampires while on vacation in Los Angeles. Their goal - to rid the city's streets of predatory men. It a fun film with a trans actress as its lead and a great soundtrack - perfect for fans of THE LOST BOYS.

3. DEAD BOY DETECTIVES (2024)

Based on the comics by Neil Gaiman, DEAD BOY DETECTIVES follows a group of mystery-solving teens - two of whom are dead - as they help their ghostly clients find closure and move on to the afterlife... all while trying to escape death, witches and demons. It's queer and funny, spooky and dark, and everything you want from a supernatural mystery. Perfect for fans of Buffy and Scooby-Doo (just with a few more violent deaths).

5. DEAD HOT (2024)

DEAD HOT is wild. It's a short and sweet six-part comedy thriller mini-series about love, loss, sexuality, identity, and class. It follows two friends (Elliot and Jess), brought together by the loss of Peter - Jess's Brother and Elliot's first love. It's dark and funny and creepy and very very gay.

6. THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR (2020)

Though some would class THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR as a horror, I'd be more inclined to say its a love story with plenty of ghosts thrown in. After an au pair’s tragic death, a young American nanny is hired to care for two orphaned children. As creepy as this mini-series is, it's also beautiful and incredibly well-acted and the lesbian love story feels authentic and sweet.

7. FEAR STREET: PARTS 1-3 (2021)

FEAR STREET is a trilogy of supernatural horror films - the first film set in 1994, the second in 1978, and the third in 1666. Based on the RL Stein books of the same name, each film revolves around a group of teenagers trying to break the curse that has been over their town for hundreds of years. Expect lots of blood, gore, suspense, and supernatural horror running throughout all three films.

8. DEAD END PARANORMAL PARK (2022)

DEAD END: PARANORMAL PARK is an animated fantasy horror comedy series created by Hamish Steele for Netflix - based on the graphic novel series, DEADENDIA. The show follows Barney and Norma, the newest employees at their local theme park, along with Pugsley, Barney's childhood dog, and Courtney, a thousand-year-old demon as they discover the secrets of the theme park they work in. 9. JENNIFER'S BODY (2009)

JENNIFER'S BODY has become a bit of a cult classic. The original marketing of this film didn't do it justice - it's a feminist revenge horror/comedy with themes of toxic friendship, grief, and sexuality at its core. Jennifer is different after a traumatic evening at a local bar, her male classmates are steadily being killed off and it's up to her best friend Needy to uncover the truth. Is Jennifer evil now? Yes, and she wants to eat your boyfriend.

With the rebellious witch Eda to guide her and pint-sized demon King at her aid, Luz starts to learn magic, make some friends, and mayybeee gets a girlfriend?!?!?
